With the charms of your Memoir fresh in my mind, let me please send you these few lines to say how more than glad I am you have put on record this tribute to "the Twins." They came to Eton just as I was leaving

Walter Durnford's & I saw much of them at times & was very fond of them both. The way you have portrayed their characteristics must be widely appreciated by their many friends, who will one & all feel a deep sense of gratitude

to you for the memories evoked by those two earnest & splendid lives. With our kindest remembrances to Mrs Buchan & wishing you were both still in Portland Place.
