Dear Mr Buchan
Thank you so very much for the beautiful book about the Grenfells. I had been trying to get it at the library, and am so glad to have it. You have such a great gift for sympathetic understanding that you take your readers with you. I loved the part about the two little boys. Alas! Alas! that they who were so "lovely and pleasant in their lives", should have been swept away because humanity has not yet

forgotten the beast. They must have been brave & generous souls. I should think your book must be the very greatest comfort to their sisters.
Many thanks for writing your name in the book; it gave completion to a very beautiful & welcome gift.
Kindest remembrances to Mrs Buchan and love to Alice and John.
Yours sincerely
Mary Webb
