My dear John.

I must write to congratulate you and thank you for the charming book you have produced about Francis & Rivvy. What a contrast to other books lately published. I have told many people to buy it not get it from a library & have got some copies for Christmas for young boys

I saw them born at Hatchlands and their home - they were cousins - was more home to me than my own. The day they were born old Pascoe was shy of going to the city - and the chaff he would get! I think I was the last near relation of Francis to see him alive just outside Ypres the night after or rather afternoon of the 12 May 15, the following night & day we got it hot. - and we talked of Rivvy

It is good to hear of Arthurs great efforts. I remember you in his bad days.

A personal note. I am back at the bottom of the ladder. Hard hit by the war, and Maurice not confirming an annuity has made it the more difficult. I joined Basil Montgomery & Co 37 Threadneedle St who
