I was glad to get your letter yesterday. Although I haven't written I have you always in the back of my mind and, sentimentalist though I be, attribute

more than sentiment to my constant memory of that Somerset week years ago. I'm well, happy, unmarried, and still no thinner in spite of a nine months tour in America when I saw much that was amusing - gave over a hundred lectures and made some friends and some money. At

the end of September I have a long novel coming out with Macmillan and after that wont worry the paper - makers for at least two years!

I move into a house - 24 York Terrace Regent's Park - this next week and will love to have you there.

And of course

I'll love to come to you. Perhaps a week-end when you wont be so busy and can walk with me.
