Dear Mr Buchan,

I came across an old letter of yours the other day,
written to me in 1914, in which you were commending some work I had
submitted to you. Much water has run under the bridge since then.
Last time I wrote to you, I think you spoke of asking me to write
something for you on the Czechs after reading my M.S. on the experiences
of the Interallied Commission in Teschen. I do not think I
heard anything more about the proposal. I am at present Professor of
English in Kingston- Mr Seccombe being head of the English Departmant
there and am home for the summer. I am taking the liberty of sending
you a copy of another little book of mine that came out the other
day.

Can you tell me if there is any likelihood of any new series
coming out in which you could give me a place? Kingston I like, but I
want to get away from it now, as the chances of further promotion are
remote. I cannot, however, just see my immediate way out, without giving
up a certainty for an uncertainty. There seems not to be much
money in literature for the ordinary writer. I shall be glad if
you can suggest something immediate as, while I have one or two things
on hand at the moment, I should not mind some work that would keep
me in London for a few months in the summer, before I go back to
Kingston in September.
