Dear John
The family decided, in high debate, to keep Hunting Tower till the holidays for reading aloud, as the most treasured morsel of the year. Hence we all absent ourselves from felicity awhile, and gaze honourably, and with fascinated and eager curiosity at its the red dismay of its cover.
Part of said holiday is to be passed by us (Sept 1 - 14 about)

at the Crook Inn, Tweedsmuir, near head of Tweed, below Talla Reservoir, which we finally decided on as more moorish than Newcastleton, and more hopelessly Scottish! Is it anywhere near your own personal country and shall you be in those parts at all then?
