Post Office Ashton on Mersey Aug. 17 - 1922
Mr. Buchan -
Sir I have not had a holiday - in the flesh - for over sixteen years. It is however, - "a long lane that never has a turning." On Tuesday - 15th Aug. my weekly vol. came up from Boots Library. It was "Hunting Tower." I started my holiday the same evening. In company with Mr. McCunn I have had a most interesting time. Up two nights till nearly 1 oclock. My only regret is that it has all been too short; for today - about - 4 P.M. I was back again in my little post office in this little Cheshire village. Many thanks to you for the chance of the trip. Yours sincerely Lily Clarke (Post Mistress)
