Dear Sir.

By great good luck I obtained on Saturday from Mudie's, "The Dancing Floor," & so have passed a pleasant week end, & completed I think, the reading of everything you have writ. But - your Virgil quotation bothers me, or my memory. 'Tis near saxty years syne I read a line of Virgil, but my memory is

"Quisque suos patimur manibus"

which to the pleasure of my Dominie

I translated -

"Ilk ane, his ain weird, maun dree"

Perhaps "you are right, and I am wrong, as you usually are", a remark made to Lord Neaves by one Advocate Nevay.

Tis the first time I have ever writ to an author, tho' often been tempted to, so pardon me.
