My dear Buchan , I have received and laid before the King the 4th. and last volume of your History of the War, for which His Majesty thanks you sincerely and congratulates you upon your great achievement.

It must, as you say, have been a tremendous grind: but your fellow-countrymen will be grateful to you for your labours .
