Dear Mr. Buchan

May a reader of "Huntingtower"
say "Thank you" for the very great pleasure your
fine story has given him and all his household?
A new John Buchan story is always hailed with
delight in this house by old and young, and
"Huntingtower" has come up to all expectations
which is saying a great deal. Would that we had
more of such fine, breezy, exhilarating tales! We
are immensely indebted to you.

Now, by the way, two slight slips for correction:
on p. 235 line 14 - "the man whom Heritage had
decided was an Australian" should be either "the
man who, Heritage decided, was an Australian" or
"the man whom Heritage decided to be an Australian;"
and on p.317, line 5, "waiting on the return of
Penelope", should be "waiting for", shouldn't it?
That use of "waiting on" is a Scotticism we are
