My dear John - Just a line to tell you that your "Huntingtower" has been an enormous success in this small household - both my wife and I appreciated it awfully - and now her maid is wrapt up in it!

Your perfectly correct Scotch appealed to my wife so much - and I think you have created a great character in Dickson McCunn - a character that ought to take a place

with Baillie Nicholl Jarvis.

He appealed to me awfully - Our next door neighbours are a family of a prosperous Midlothian farmer - just the type that would appeal to you. I gave them your Prester John to read and they were awfully interested in it.
