a weakness for the gayer atmosphere
of Robin.

Thank you for the copy of The Moon
Endureth
. I have known it since
it was first published; I re-read
The Grove of Ashtaroth with the same
excitement which it gave me
in 1912 - or did I read it in
Maga earlier? The Green Glen
I had not remembered so well; I am
not sure that it is not even better,
more 'effective' - to use a conveni-
ent cant word - than The
Grove.

May I suddenly become the reviewer
and ask why this attractive collected
edition has not been sent out for review?
Or could I have missed it? As I
write, my question answers itself -
no doubt the books sell themselves
without the 'help' of the critics.
I shall never forget how that most
excellent thriller The Thirty-Nine
Steps (don't say you despise it)
kept me working and alive
when I was succumbing to an
attack on my appendix.

Again thanking you

Yours sincerely
