We went over to her after dinner, & it was a great
pleasure to see the kind old body again. Next morning
Ferris & I ascended Chocorua. It is 4000 ft, & the
top is rock, but it is an easy climb. The view was
beyond belief - from Vermont to the sea, & from Maine to
Massachusetts - the whole country like a marvellous Persian
carpet of autumn colours. I have never had such a
Pisgah sight in my life. Mrs Page took Susie for the day &
we all forgathered there for tea. To-day we had a
lovely drive through the lake country of New Hampshire.
To morrow I have to speak at a public luncheon, and
in the afternoon we go to Milton, where I open the War
Memorial on Thursday. America is making up for the bad weather at
the start. We are very well, but longing to see you all
again. It will be funny getting your election news in Canada.
I do hope you are all well.

Much love

from
