now that there is this chorus of appreciation I hope you will feel rewarded. I have had many letters from unexpected people - they all say they are absorbed, & cannot put it down even in spite of the election it seems to have made its mark. I am certain the whole of Canada will read it eagerly. I have ruined myself in giving away so many copies, & now relations write & ask for more. You will be amused that Mrs Drew implores me to send a presentation copy to Mr Gladstones Library at Hawarden!! I regret that you wouldn't insert the tribute after his death in order to soften the criticism, but when she reads it, I cant think she will desire to have it, it wd. seem such irony! I greatly look

No one knows what the result of the elections will be. At last the communistic danger appears to be realized. I think John is safe here. He is in bed with a cold, & Violet is delivering his speeches, with great effect!
