I cannot resist writing to tell you how immensely I have enjoyed the reading of your Life of Minto; and I hope you will not think it impertinent on my part if I say that, to me, it is the most entirely "satisfying" biography that I ever recollect having read. My excuse for writing this is my affection

and intense admiration for Minto from my earliest boyhood, and I feel real gratitude to you for the extraordinarily attractive form in which you have perpetuated his memory. I was so sorry that I could not be present at the dinner at Carlton House Terrace.
