Dear Mr Buchan,

I did not write before as you were away in America but I meant my letter to greet you on your return, but somehow it has never got written & although my congratulations on 'The Book' come very late they are none the less sincere. I can't

tell you how delighted I am with the book. I really felt when reading it that my Father was alive again & that he was showering his sympathetic influence around me.

It is quite amazing how you have 'felt' his character & given it so truly to the world. I do congratulate you & thank you. It is a

wonderful book, & one which should inspire & help a young man starting off in his career.

Our Dinner on 9th seems to grow, & I think we shall have a very interesting gathering of friends.
