My dear Buchan,

I told Billy to tell you how much I like the new book - John Macnab - though nothing of a fisherman or stalker myself, - & I begin to appreciate how much I have missed - the yarn greatly delighted myself & the crew - One young lady thinks that the younger Claybody was let off too lightly - but the story wd. not have been quite perfect unless it all ended well - Thank you very much - You novelists can be the greatest benefactors to your contemporaries - take us away from worries & cares - & some of you are such & some are not - One Aldons Hurly deserves boiling oil 'sine judice' & of course a large number are hopeless - well thank God for the good ones.
