Cambridge House Town End - Caterham Surrey 21. Sept: 1925

My dear Colonel Buchan

My hearty congratulations on the publication of your great work. It will be enthusiastically received by the Regiment and all its friends, while it will be read with interest by well-wishers of the British Army in all Corps. While being the story of one unit it does justice to all those other units that have been associated with it in achievement and in suffering.

The 'placing' of the Regiment in the historical events that led to its campaigns, as well as in the campaigns themselves is a conspicuous merit in the narration and nothing could serve better to encourage the pride of the Fusiliers and confirm their patriotism.

admirable. The dates and the headings of the pages along with the maps add materially to the pleasure of the reader - and the Index is a great achievement.

I need not tell you that the exceedingly generous way in which you have associated me with the History has exceeded all I could have dared to expect. It called out a delightful appreciation from Sir Hugh Trenchard speaking for himself and the Regiment.

The History is a great work and will be accepted as a Classic.

Thanking you sincerely for the pleasure it has given me to work for you.

Yrs. sincerely

T Scott.
