I cannot go home to the contemplation of running water without telling you of the pleasure that it gave me to see you again.

I wished that we could have gone on with our talk as there were all sorts of subjects - Ashridge, about which you wrote to me some years ago - old days in South Africa and in Whitehall - Fishing films (I see that you are a Director of British Instructional Films, with whom I did "Battles with Salmon", taken on the Helmsdale and the Shin, "A Flyfisher's Festival" Mayfly rice etc - and "The Tiger of the Stream" - Pike fishing) and

above all that new little film "The Two Pounder" not yet released which I saw the other day - the prospects of getting the Chancellor to join the Club (I wish that I could have cadged a seat in the strangers' gallery last night from you to witness his great triumph!) and so on.

Whether you join the Club yourself or not, I hope that you had as pleasant an evening with us as we had with you.
