My own darling

It is much milder this morning. I have the tiresome job
of attending the Income Tax Commissioners and giving evidence on
behalf of Ashridge - which will wreck a good deal of the day. We
have an Ashridge Governor's meeting this afternoon.

Tell Alice I have got a private room for tomorrow night.
She ought to be there at ten minutes to eight.

Lady (Malcolm ) Robertson has asked us to dine on Friday
the 26th , but I am afraid neither of us will be in London.

Alec Dunglass made a first-class maiden speech in the
House yesterday - I think the best made; but the poor boy had to
wait from half past three until nine o'clock to get it off.

Remind Alice that she must do me a paragraph this week
for "The Spectator", as I shall be rather short.

Baldwin is dining with our Group on Thursday. I cannot
get hold of John Simon, whom I must talk to about the Goethe centenary.
