I congratulate you on a cameo. What a fertile genius you have - to produce a Scott and a Caesar at one birth.

Is your volume the start of the series? If it is, it is a good beginning. Almost you persuade me to attempt a volume - as Peter Davis was good enough to ask me to do some time ago. The volume is so beautifully produced - paper, print, and binding - that it is most tempting

But I do not know whom I should want to write about. Alexander to your Caesar? Or Pericles? I think a Whig like Pericles would suit me best. But I only toy with ideas
