St. Stephen's House, London, S. W. 1.
27th April , 1932 .
My own darling
I got your letter this morning. I am so sorry for you in these difficult days; but you will have me back tomorrow evening by the 6.5. I hope you won't find going to Eton too trying. And I do hope you get on well at Banbury today. I see The Times has given you a little preliminary notice.
Yesterday was rather pleasant weather. Today it is gray and cold again. All yesterday I was at the Sky-writing Committee, and cross-examined the Scapa people. Tomorrow we have the C.P.R.E. I wish these honest people would not state a good case extravagantly. I had the ^A Henry General of Sierra Leone to tea at the House to talk about the best way of helping Sawrey-Cookson to a Chief Justiceship. The House was very dull, so I dined quietly at the Club .
Today I am lunching with Ralph Hodder Williams , and then going to a British Academy meeting. I am dining at the hotel with my family. Apparently they are not going off until next Tuesday, so I shall see them on Monday.
Give my best love to my two gentlemen and tell them that I expect great things from both of them this half.
Much love. John
