My own darling,

There was no letter from you this morning. I do hope
that that does not mean that you are seedy. I hope, too, that you are taking great care of y our cold.

I see John managed for the first time to escape a bump
yesterday. It is most beastly weather.

That stupid fellow, Bill Anstruther Gray, came to the
House yesterday afternoon with his face all black and blue and looking very ill. Alec Dunglass and I simply carted him home to
bed.

I took Godfrey Locker-Lampson last night to see Twelfth
Night. I dined with him at the Marlborough Club beforehand. I
thought the performance very good, all except Jean Forbes -Robertson
as Viola, who is too insignificant for the part. It was curious
to see again a play which I last saw in the year 1901. Norman
Forbes played Sir Andrew Aguecheek then, and he played the
same part last night.

I am looking forward to seeing Alice at Mrs. Ronnie's
luncheon and to hearing how you are.

Mother writes from Edinburgh - as usual she is not finding the Assembly quite up to her expectation.

My speechifying beings today, and goes on indefinitely!

I had a talk to Hinchinbrook yesterday. He is now one
