St. Stephen's House, London, S. W. 1.

29th May, 1932

My own darling

I was rather alarmed when I did not get a letter from you at the Club this morning, but I found one at the office. I am glad you are taking your cold seriously and staying as much as possible in bed. One should take no chances in this weather.

Yesterday was a busy day. The luncheon at Mrs. Ronnie's was very pleasant - The Austen Chamberlains, the Austrian Ambassador, Lindeman, and a French Countess. Mrs. Ronnie has taken a tremendous fancy to Alice, she tells me. I hope you get that little lady back safely today.

I had a most strenuous afternoon and evening - no dinner but sandwiches and coffee at midnight. The Missionary meeting was gigantic - over 3,000 people - and I got on fairly well. At the Philosophers' I think I made really a good speech.

I see John has finished his disastrous career by being bumped on the last day. The manuscriopt of Brasenose rowing is a disgrace to the College.

I have a Sky-writing Committee all morning, and then St. George's Hospital in the afternoon. I must speak in the House tomorrow, so I will not get back until the 4,45 train. Tell Webb. I do hope I shall find you better.

Alice was looking very pretty yesterday.

Much love.

from John
