Governor's House Thorshavn Faeroes
Sunday July: 31: 32
My own little Precious one,
I do hope you are feeling better & that the little boys are with you and looking after you. Do take the utmost care of your precious health, for I shall be horribly disappointed if when I come back I don't find you like a lioness refreshed!
First, for plans. I think I see a chance of leaving next week. We are loving this place, but I don't want to be

away from you too long, so I shall try to get the Copenhagen boat, which leaves on Aug 8th, to drop us at Lerwick - in which case we should be home about the 12th. But I will wire as soon as we reach Scotland.
We had a fair voyage. John was not sick, but retired to bed on the Sunday evening. The Governor & his family are the soul of hospitality, & simply load us with kindness. You would love the small boys like little Vikings.

What have we been doing? Well, we have been to see the leader of the Nationalists who lives in a wonderful Viking house. We went 30 miles up the coast & humped our kit over 7 miles of hills to a lovely place called Saxen, where we had some excellent fishing. I got a sea-trout of 4 lb odd. We came back here for the festival of St Olav, when the whole place went daft. We went to church in state. Yesterday the whole family took us a picnic to a lighthouse, where we saw

some fowling. To day we start for an island called Saxoi, where we shall be fishing for several days. A Danish man-of-war is expected from Greenland, and it is willing to take us on a trip to some of the outer skerries. So you see we are filling up our time. It is a wonderful holiday, utterly unlike anything I have done before. We are both very well, & the medicine box is unopened. The food is

unbelievably good. They cook fish far better than the Ritz!
I hope you have retrieved both the boys in good form & that they are a comfort to you. And I do hope my little girl is getting on all right in Germany.
Don't trouble to write, for it won't catch me, if we leave on Monday the 8th. I will wire to Mrs Webb not to forward any letters at all.
God bless you, my own little
