My dear Buchan
Thank you so much for your letter. I'm answering it late because I've only just got my mail in a batch on reaching Paris from the South, after doing all the German & Italian battlefields for this book. It's very good of you to write as you do. I hardly thought you could do it, as I said,

for it is not the moment; & I only troubled you because you were an old & tried friend who knew not only my habit of work, but more than anyone else of the book-trade & its conditions.
I'll look around at my leisure. There's no desperate haste, as I have half already, & can raise, say, half of the remainder on my land & insurances. But I should prefer to do the thing in a regular way of business rather than through the generosity of friends, and when I get home, which I do in 2 days, I'll go into it again.
Thank you again so much!
Yours always,
H Belloc.
