My darling little one
I had a pleasant sleeping journey to London I saw your mother at Grosvenor St. She reported that John looked very well & very tidy Tuffs presented him with a book on birds & a [tip]. Then I went on to [Tuffs?]. She wasn't in, but I [stuffed my books in] the car & dispatched Webb homeward.

critical occasion. Geoffrey Dawson & Philip are coming to dine at Nancy's to night.
I lunched with Harold Baker. He says that everyone is full of praise of your book. He had no special scandals - indeed I had more than he - ex Newmarket. It is believed that Lord Haldane has [left Perdita Asquith some money because of her remaining a Protestant].
Much love, my only little darling, to you & the [Lord?], & Mr P, & the lads
from John
