My dear John,

I am asking my publishers to send you a volume which
I am bringing out of a selection of the many speeches
delivered during my Empire tour. I think they may
interest you, not as models of oratory, for I know
their deficiencies in that respect, but as expounding
a fairly coherent philosophy of present relations in the
Empire and of the way in which I want to see those
relations worked out.
