Dear Sir, as I have very much enjoyed your Prester John, and later Mr. Standfast, and as I have admired also your incomparable History of the War, I have no doubt that though extremely busy you may find 5 minutes time to answer a question which is of great importance to me. I have after 40 years of study published a book on Pre-existence and Re-incarnation (Allen and Unwin 1928) being myself fully convinced that I have lived many times. Now I imagine that the experience of the war was a very exceptional opportunity for reminiscence. Could you tell me whether among the great soldiers of the War you know

any who have manifested their conviction of having lived before? Among poets and novelists there are many - perhaps the bed knows Jack Coridon, Kipling, River Haggard, Lateastio Hearn. But often they speak very vaguely. I expect soldiers to be more precise and should like to quote some such testimonies in the forthcoming 2d edition of my book: Can you help me?
