My dear John

I am on my back in bed - the result
of a severe chill contracted in the train on
the night I went to help MacAndrew at
Kilmarnock - and according to all
medical prognostication I shall still be
here on 30th May, so that my voice can
never be raised in the Campaign

I know how much 'under
the weather' you have been yourself
but I am told you are better and I
send you from my bed a cry for help.
Could you address a meeting in Hillhead
Burgh Hall on the night before the Poll? It
is a small hall & would not tax you at
all. But if that be not possible could
you suggest another evening or
