ATHOLL, COMRIE ROAD, CARDONALD, GLASGOW.

Oct. 1st 1929

My Dear Sir

I daresay this little vol: of mine is quite unknown in London, although Henry Munro Ltd the publisher, is at 119 Fleet St. It is a book for Scots - if for any.

In 1926 I retired on pension from "The Glasgow Herald" of whose Agric[ultura]l Cols I had charge for a long time. I very greatly admired your Rosebery article. At the time I said to Sir R. Bruce I had never seen its match as a sum up in the "Herald".

I have been re-reading "Prester John". Its Introductory Chapter is a gem.

My vol, by the way, had a most generous "Press", and some private benisons, including a most hearty and characteristic tribute from Mr Cunninghame Graham.

Yrs v. truly
