St. Stephen's House,
London , S. W. 1.

5th December, 1930.

My own darling,

I made quite a good little speech in the House today ,
though the occasion was of no great importance. Then I had a
tête-à-tête luncheon with S.B. Baldrom and rammed a great many things
into his worthy ear. I think I have persuaded him to make a
great appeal in his speech in Glasgow tomorrow-week. He is just
off to Cambridge for the weekend, and very much in holiday mood.
Ramsay has been apparently taking him very much into his confidence,
especially about India and the Viceroy. He thinks Ramsay
should go himself.

This is merely a scribble. I will write you tomorrow
from Edinburgh. I am dining with Blanchie tonight, and catching
my train at 11 o'clock. I am very well.

Much love.
John
