My dear Buchan
I hope you may remember my unimportant self in the Ministry of Information? I am having the temerity to send you 'in a present' a copy of the latest 'effort' of my sister and myself. It is really a lecture which I gave in Elgin last February. It will not take up much of your time to read nor will it occupy much space on your book-shelves! But being political and Scottish I felt emboldened to send it to you.

My sister and I have turned out several Scottish books in the last few years - "Jacobites of Aberdeenshire and Banffshire in 1745" being the one we were most keen about - and we are now working hard at dealing with the same two counties in 1715 - a much more difficult job as there are so few good authorities on the subject.
I hope you will excuse me for inflicting this upon you?
Yours sincerely Alistair N Taylor
