St. Stephen's House, London, S. W. 1.
7th May, 1931.
My own darling
I got your letter this morning. I think the weather is moving towards summer, but there is probably more rain coming. Just at present it is lovely here.
I am so sorry for poor little Alice and her teeth. Nothing makes one feel so wretched.
I have asked Wallace Notstein, the American Professor who is at All Souls this summer - the great authority on the English seventeenth century - to lunch on Sunday. I hope that is all right. You will like him very much.
I had a long meeting of the House of Commons Record Committee yesterday evening, and then dined with the Solicitors at Claridges and made, I think, quite a neat little speech. Then I went back to the House for the division. L.G. was not good and very discursive. Today I have the East London College Council in the afternoon, and shall probably have to be at the House most of the evening.
Expect me tomorrow at 11.8.
Much love. John
