My darling Sooze. All loving wishes for Xmas to you darling. I am miserable to think I have not seen you & by my own fault - for you wrote to tell me when you wd be up. I had a crowded & difficult summer - & became vague & hopeless over all such things

as meetings & appointments unless they just happened. Should there be any chance of seeing you after Xmas will you heap the coals however fiercely they burn on me? & let me know

My Xmas card this year speaks for itself. A very few copies have been printed

& indeed there are very few to whom I wd send anything as personal. It will interest you as how "Ally" appeared to one who met her "after many years" for the first time. Osbert is a very dear friend of mine & it was a birthday gift. Afterwards

he commercialised the idea (of portraits in words) but this is believed to be the best. I do hope you will like it -
