My own darling
I was delighted to get your letter this morning. It does not look such good weather to-day, but it will probably clear up. I was rather afraid Billie had mistaken the day. I hope you got safely back from Eton.
I have got your cold in majestic plenitude?
Orpen had to put me off yesterday, but I hope to go and see Alastair's picture today. Poor Noel Skelton is in bed with a temperature and a threatening of appendicitis.
I had a queer day yesterday. I brought Keynes to talk to the Members of all parties, and he talked to them unmitigated twaddle. Then we had Bob Kindersley to dinner with the Group. Like all of these bankers, one had to dig information out of him by cross-examination; but he was on the whole pretty interesting. I have Henry Clay coming today to talk to the Members.
I have a great deal to tell you tomorrow. I have got a pair and will come by the early train, reaching Oxford at 11.5. I must go down to Oxford in the afternoon to see the Inland Revenue people .
I do hope I shall find you quite well .
