St. Stephen's House, London, S. W. 1.

24th November, 1931.

My dear darling

This is a very mild day. Yesterday I had tea with Baldwin, who is in very good spirits, and then I happened to meet Ramsay and had a long talk with him. He is rather peevish because he had hoped to get away on the 9th December for a short sea voyage, but has been told that he must not leave England. Foreign affairs seem to be in a real tangle.

I dined with Max Bonn and his young Jewish protege, and also Sir Horace Wilson, of the Ministry of Labour, a very interesting man. Max has got a most lovely flat in Bryanston Square.

I have a busy day to-day and hope to dine with The Club. I have sent Alastair a note of encouragement.

About Thursday, I think you had better make sure of being ready by not later than ten minutes past seven, as the approaches to the hall will be congested. Every Scotsman in the House seems to be trying to get tickets now, and there are none available. Ramsay says he is very nervous.

I hope everything is well at Elsfield.

Much love, [initials]
