St. Stephen's House, London, S. W. 1.

1st June, 1932.

My own darling

I was delighted to get your letter this morning and to hear that you had had such a good time in Wales. I will be delighted to take your mother over to lunch with the Glyns on the 12th. You give a most vivid account of your Welsh travels, and I hope we shall see the photographs. I am glad you like the Mayor.

I think the enclosed dance card is for Mr. John. I enclose a very nice letter from Zim. [ST: (Professor Alfred Zinman)]

I have not much news to-day . I lunched with James Bone, Walter Elliot, Ivor Brown, etc. yesterday as a farewell to George Blake, who is becoming the editor of "The Glasgow Evening News". Then we had a long Ashridge Governors' Committee, and I had tea with Baldwin. I dined at the Club and went back for the division. Tell Alice I have cast out many lines for Rovers' tickets for the Eton and Harrow.

To-day Peter Davies is lunching with me. We have the Waterloo Bridge debate in the House, which should be rather fun. I have too many odds and ends to do this week, and cannot get down to proper work. I hope to be back by the 4.45 train on Friday. I do hope your cold has completely gone. Much love .

from John

What about the Road to Mandalay? [ST: suggestion that JB should be made Governor of Burma]
