St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.

14th June , 1932.

My own darling

I found lovely weather in London yesterday. I gave tea to Stephen Gwynn and a very nice Mrs. Lucas on the Terrace. Then I had an Economy Conference with our group, and then took the Chair for Dr. Weizmann at a meeting of the Palestine Committee. I dined quietly at the club, and went back for a good many divisions.

Today I am lunching with Graves of "The Times" to meet Fitzmaurice of Constantinople. I have another Economy Committee in the afternoon, and I am introducing a deputation of women workers to the Scottish Members. I hope to get a chance of going to the National Portrait Gallery today, and I am also writing to Lord Home and other people. Mrs. Ward was not in the House yesterday, but I hope to give her your letter today.

There is another funny new wave of confidence beginning, and it is reflected in the City. It is partly Neville's speech last Friday, and partly Ramsay's going to Lausanne.

I hope you and Alice are not too much overwhelmed by the Fete. The prospects of the weather look fairly good. Expect me back by the 4.45 train tomorrow.

Much love. from John.
