Dear Buchan,

The time I have spent during the
last few days in a Nursing Home has been
enormously lightened by the pleasure I
have obtained in reading your last book,
"The Gap in the Curtain". Incidentally,
I was interested to note that, in spite
of Professor Moe's efforts, what was
printed in the "Times" twelve months ahead
was not strictly correct in one case.

On page 237, it is stated that
Sir Robert Goodeve read his own obituary
notice, describing himself, amongst other
things as M.P. I gather, however,
from a statement made on page 267 that
he did not stand at the General Election
of May and, therefore, dying in June
would be incorrectly described as "M.P."
I wonoered whether this was due to a
"Times" error - rather unlikely - or to
some fading of the gap.

Yours sincerely,

Geoffrey L Mander
