St. Stephen's House, London, S. W. 1.

18th October, 1932.

My own darling

I am dreadfully distressed to hear about Sonny. Will you tell Mrs. Charlett (our cook) how deeply I sympathise with her anxiety. As I have heard nothing further I must hope for the best.

I think Cecily Townshend will review Lady Louisa very nicely, and you could hardly expect David Cecil to do anything on his honeymoon.

I had a very delightful day in St. Andrews, where the weather was fresh and blowing and quite mild. In the morning I went down and looked at the birds on the shore. Then I had a luncheon party and also a tea party. My lecture was the most absurdly over-crowded thing you ever saw - a wonderful audience. Then I dined quietly with the Irvings and caught the nine o ' clock train back. We came through a terrific gale and the train was an hour late .

I enclose a review of Lady Louisa from the "Daily Record". I think it is having a very good show.

I do hope you are not feeling lonely and deserted. This tiresome fortnight will soon be over .

Much love. from John
