My own darling
I got your letter this morning on arriving at the Club. Yesterday was a most gorgeous day in Edinburgh. I had a pleasant journey down to Newcastle. I had a fine audience for my lecture, in a big church in rather a slummy part. I caught my train at 11.13 and slept comfortably until eight o'clock this morning.
I am glad you found the little boys well at Eton. I must write to Billie about not writing to thank Auntie Nan. I am reminding Alice about dinner tomorrow.
You see to have had a deluge of rain in the South.
Tell Roberto [Weiss] that everything is all right about him, and that he is going to be temporarily attached to the staff of the Bodleian for the work.
I have got a desperately busy day before me; indeed, completely congested.
I doubt if you could ever get Enid to do any piece of work except by accident.
I am immensely looking forward to seeing your book. It and mine come out on the same day.
With regard to the enclosed letter from Lady Cushendun, I could manage lunch on November 1st if she makes the hour one o'clock. I have a Reuter Board at 2.15.
Much love. from John
