St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.
8th December, 1932.
My own darling,
I got your letter this morning. I expect to see you at luncheon at Jules tomorrow at one o'clock, and we will dine at Rosmersholm at seven. I am so glad you are having quiet days and fine weather.
Yesterday I lunched with my friend from Japan, who was Michael Spencer-Smith's successor. We had a Pilgrim Trust meeting at 4.15 which lasted until seven. Stamp tells me that there may be a railway strike in Ireland on Sunday night which will probably spread to Britain. I dined with Sir John Reith, and incidentally talked to him about Alice's reading of poetry, and he was very sympathetic. Then I went to Basil Dufferin's house to meet some Indian potentates. Dufferin has now become a sort of older statesman, and I think very competent.
Today I am lunching with the "Royal Flush" lady, and then have a lot of interviews.
I am greatly looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Much love.
