UNIVERSITY of WASHINGTON SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

December 21, 1932

Dear Mr. Buchan:

I enclose an article of mine on Sir Walter clipped from the current number of THE VIRGINIA QUARTERLY REVIEW. You may possibly be interested in my remarks on your new book. I also had the pleasure of reviewing this book in a public lecture here at the University.

You may possibly know my book, The Man Charles Dickens, published in England by Constable and in this country by Houghton Mifflin Company. I will not bore you by speaking of it here, nor will I enlarge on how deeply I have been moved by both your Scott and your Blanket of the Dark I think I have spoken of both these matters at sufficient length in my review.

With best wishes for the holiday season, I am

Yours very sincerely, E.C. Wagenknecht Edward Wagenknecht

Mr. John Buchan Elsfield Manor Oxford, England.
