St. Stephen's House,
London, S. W. 1.

9th November, 1932.

My own darling

No letter from you this morning! I hope you are all
right. I will see you at dinner on Thursday with Gran. I am
taking her to the pre-Armistice service at St. Colomba's. Have
you let Nan know where and when you are meeting her tomorrow?

McKenna was very interesting last night. My only objection
to him is that he makes everything clearer than God intended
anything to be. We had a little dinner, consisting of
Neville Chamberlain, Esmond Harmsworth, Walter Monckton, the Governor
of the Hudson Bay Company, etc. I left at 9.15, and went to
see Nan and Gran, whom I found in great form in a very nice hotel.
I never saw both of them looking better.

Today I am lunching at the Travellers, and have a
good many appointments.

I am very well. My cold is completely gone.

Winston seems to be behaving very foolishly. He attended
a luncheon yesterday which Abe Bailey gave to celebrate the engagement,
and smoked and drank copiously. Ramsay is looking
ghastly, and I am getting quite nervous about him. His speech on
Monday was almost a breakdown.

"The Times" has done the North papers handsomely this
morning.

[papers bought from the North family
for the nation by the
Pilgrims Trust. J.B. was
largely responsible for this.]

Much love.
