My own darling
I have just got back from Cardiff in lovely weather. Cardiff is really a wonderful city. There are no industries within seven miles, and it is laid out like a Continental town, with beautiful buildings and parks, and the Butes' castle in the middle of it. I was met at the station and taken round some of the chief sights. We then dined at 6.15. We had an enormous meeting in the Municipal Buildings, where I performed a ceremony, made a speech, and gave away prizes for a solid three- quarters of an hour - a most laborious undertaking. I spent the night housed in Victorian splendour - pitch pine, cut velvet, Crown Derby ware , and Academy pictures. I formed a very high opinion of the Cardiff people for their optimism and public spirit.
I have a [ST: Mrs C.F.G] Masterman Trustees meeting this afternoon, and than a meeting with George Trevelyan, and then I hope I will dine at The Club. It is a grand day for the Match.
I do hope you are feeling quite well again. It will be great fun seeing you on Thursday. Can you throw any light on the enclosed prepaid telegram?
Much love.
