St. Stephen's House,
London, S.W.1.

2nd May, 1933

My own darling

There is a horrid cold north-east wind, and we are back
in January. I do hope you are keeping well and taking enormous
care of yourself.

I had tea with Circe yesterday afternoon. She is having
a small operation and is full of troubles. She and Charlie may
come to Holyrood for a night on their way back from Scotland, if
all goes well with her operation.

I dined at the Club and went back to the House. Austen
Chamberlain moved an amendment against the German agreement, and
took eighty people into the lobby with him. He spoke very well;
Amery not well. But Walter Runciman was pretty good.

Today I am lunching with Bob Cecil and dining with your
Mother. I have a long Reuter meeting in the afternoon.

I am most desperately busy, but this week I should have
cleared everything.

I hope the boys get safely back to Eton.

Much love.
from
John

P.S. The Gilmours and the Elphinstones and the [Hornes/Howes?]
cannot come to Holyrood.
