St. Stephen's House,
London, S.W.1.
25th July, 1933
My own darling
You will have received my note about this awful tangle.
I raced about in the heat yesterday evening doing what I could.
Fleming will take Brian and Alice to the Registrar today, and if
that fails we must appeal to the Registrar-General, or try and get
a special licence. What fools we shall look if the wedding has to
be postponed. We ought to know about it today.
My Bill was blocked last night, and I postponed it until
November 7th. On the other hand we got George Drummond's Adelphi
Bill through by a large majority.
I will have a busy day today, and shall be very anxious
until I hear news from Fleming. I have a Reuter meeting, and an
Ashridge Governors' meeting in the afternoon, and many Committees
at the House.
Will you ring me up when you come up tomorrow morning.
I do hope you are all well.
Much love.

John
