St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.

9th November, 1933

My own darling

I got your letter this morning. I enclose am amusing letter from Alice. It is funny to find her writing about the opening meet of a pack of hounds. I don't think I will have Rupert for an A.D.C. next year.

If John Wedgwood is Ralph's son he is probably a very nice fellow.

The Government have unexpectedly give[n] me Government time for my Bird Bill next Tuesday. That was the day of my first Cambridge lecture. I had an awful evening yesterday telephoning, but the Cambridge people have managed to shift all my lectures on one week, which is very kind of them.

I have got my new plate in, but it is not very comfortable and I am going to the dentist on my way to the station this afternoon. I speak at Birmingham at the Scottish University dinner tonight. Tell Webb I hope to be back from Birmingham at 10.35 tomorrow morning.

I saw a lot of people in the House yesterday. Noel Skelton is becoming very like the Emperor Nero. John Colville told me that Walter Scott was staying with him before he went to you yesterday. I hope you had a pleasant evening.

Much love.

from John
