St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.

28th November, 1933

My own little darling,

I had sad thoughts of you last night, left alone. I went

to the House to tea and then dined with the Jews, including Weizman and Eddie Hartington. Baldwin finished the debate extraordinarily well, concluding about Megan, with Falstaff's cry "Lord deliver me from that Welsh fairy".

I have a busy morning, and then go off to Cambridge on the 2.30, where I am staying with George Trevelyan.

I do hope your evenings are not too dull. I am afraid there is no possibility of your coming to the dinner on Thursday. They have never allowed ladies for three hundred years.

I enclose a letter from Alice. It is wild weather for a long tour in the Highlands. Has she warm enough clothes?

I am having tea with your Mother tomorrow.

I enclose a letter from Hilda. I do not possess this information about Pascoe, and have no status to ask for it Mouse could easily get it from the lawyers. It looks as if he and Maudie were being obstructive, at which I do not wonder. I have asked Hilda to tea on Thursday.

Eddie Hartington says that Lansdowne is fearfully broken up. It is the subsequent suicides which have worried him most. Eddie's own eldest boy has got infantile rheumatism, and has to leave Eton.

Much love. from John

P.S. I have had a line from Cast saying that he does not feel quite well enough to come back next weekend, so we must get White.
